We pay for many things over a long period of time but get the benefit now… our mortgage, a car, even a sofa. So why not ask people to take as long as they like to pay for something really worthwhile that you need now - the sort of ask you would keep in reserve for a high value donor - something in the thousands.
The question isn’t how much would you like to give the question is how long would you like to take? I would like to pay for this over 12 years please. Work backwards from the end goal. I gave £5 a month for ever or I helped end poverty for a family in Africa. I know which I would prefer.
I could even add a lump sum payment when it suited me, fundraise, or pledge a legacy to make it up. I could even delay my payments or reduce them but still keep that end goal in mind. So focus on the impact that donors can make no matter how much they cost.
