Writing a cheque, setting up a standing order or direct debit. They are just ways of giving a donation. So why do we make such a fuss about legacies. It is just a way of making a donation and yet we wrap it up in jargon and words like 'pecuniary' as if it was some financial product.

Why not ask someone to think about giving that way? How would you like to pay? Credit Card, Cash, Legacy? Think of the advantages to the donor – they pledge a legacy, support now and pay later, and if you don’t look after them they can change their mind!
