There are some days you just want to feel good. And giving makes me feel good. On the day I got married I strode up to a collector and popped £20 in her collecting tin. I can still remember the look on her face.

Now the Queen has the right idea. On her birthday she gives a set of silver coins, with a total value equal to the Queen's age.

Often charities pick the moment or time that they want someone to give rather than a time I want to give. So why not ask your supporters at a time that you are likely to appeal to their charitable side.

They could follow the Queen and set up an annual donation on their birthday perhaps even to giving the value of their age? Or an annual gift on their Wedding anniversary.
