EXPLAIN THE TRUTH OF DIRECT MARKETING
In Professional Fundraising’s “Spotlight on Direct Mail” supplement in February, Nick Couldry advocated printing something like this on the outer envelopes of acquisition mail packs.
“(Your Charity Name) relies on public support and we use mailpacks like this to inform people about the work we do, and to ask for their support. These appeals are designed as economically as possible. To print and post this mailpack to you has cost us Xxp, and although not everyone who receives one will respond to it, this is an extremely cost-effective way of raising funds to help (Your Cause). In fact over XX per cent of our income is dependent on appeals like this one.”
Might stop some of the one in five people who just bin them without opening.
