How about simply buying a donation instead of some naff item that’s sits by the cash till?

In cafés you can now buy cards that can be redeemed to buy coffees or you can buy cards to pay for songs on iTunes. How about a card that you pick up in a shop or café, which allows you to make a donation that you give along with your other purchases?

Can’t be done?

It already is - in Spain you can do just that.

You could even get the donor to log on or call so you could redeem the gift aid by quoting the card reference number and providing your details.
